Brilliant podcast. I'm impressed that you managed to pick your top five Smiths songs (I've never got my list down to less than twenty!). No arguments from me about the choices though. Spot on. I would have had "There is a light..." at No. 1 too although "Please, please, please..." is a favourite too. Will, I think you're right about "Hatful of Hollow"; there's a lot of good stuff on it.

Enjoyed your podcast on the smiths. In passing you guys mentioned that mimicking the smiths is a difficult task for most bands. Here is a recent release you guys may want to take a look at. The band is called "Merchandise" and the album is titled "Children of Desire" released in October,2012. The Morrissey influence here is undeniable, however, i believe that this particular band pulls it off. This singer takes that trademark Morrissey sound and adds a lower register not present in The Smiths music. As good as the Smiths? No. Is it going to be as influential? Of course not... but i have to say, i enjoy hearing young bands build upon the roads travelled by my childhood heroes. I would be interested to hear the "Will's Band" take on this.
